Fasting is an important technique to become healthy. We have a common belief that if we became hungry we should eat otherwise we feel tired, lacking energy. But that is not true at all, If you stay hungry your body uses your stored fats to supply you energy. In that process, you can burn your unnecessary fats and become fit. If you are hungry you will focus on yourself, which helps you in enhancing your awareness. All the internal organs get some rest and re-energize for the next day. In Hindu scriptures, it is written that, one should avoid rice on the 11th lunar day. What does that mean? There are a whole lot of foods but why it is recommended to avoid rice only. If we try to understand in a modern scientific context then it is trying to say that you should avoid carbohydrates originated from grains for 2 days a month. So that your internal organs get some rest and you become healthy and energetic. It is scientifically also proven that you can die by eating and eating but you can live by not eating food specifically, carbs. Although Carbs are a major part of our diet, It provides lots of energy in terms of calories one should stay away from carbs at least 2 days per month.
